Cocktail Hour - 6pm

Welp, it's been quite the year. On Saturday, October 20, join us at 18th St Union to celebrate one year of UN/TUCK existing on this Earth. It has been our mission to elevate marginalized voices through music, and though we have accomplished a great deal in collaboration with so many amazing artists, we are only just beginning to build this platform in Kansas City and beyond. As the music scene transforms and evolves, we feel it is vital to deliberately make space for parties that celebrate inclusivity and accessibility. We're excited to work with 18th Street Union to bring you a night of diverse vibes, artistry, and BPMs.

Logan has recently recorded his fourth album as a band leader entitled "Blues People" featuring Richardson on Alto Saxophone, and effects; Justus West, Electric Guitar, & Vocals; Igor Osypov, Electric Guitar; DeAndre Manning, Electric Bass; Ryan J. Lee, Drums.
This project sonically sets Logan off into a completely different territory as he dives deeper into his roots presenting a sci-fi themed, hauntingly 80's referenced, soundtrack to his life. This album is now available on the Stretch Music/ Ropeadope and Universal Music labels worldwide.
Workshop Title: "Is it Real or is it True?"

Kansas City poet Jermaine Thompson will lead an exploration of word and memory in this workshop inspired by two Open Spaces artworks installed in the Crossroads District. Dreams of Flight by Randy Regier, and Never Records by Ted Reiderer lead their audience/participants to new perspectives on memory and how it is held and recorded. This workshop experience will span their installations, a dedicated writing session, and a walk in the Crossroads District, focused on the themes of memory and our sense of "the real."

District Rhythms returns on Sunday, October 21st with featuring Eugene Smiley's Blue Revue with special guests: Tom "Trashmouth" Baker, Sammie "Koolaid" Johnson, John Paul Drum, J.J. Johnson, Millage Gilbert & The Down Home Blue Band and Atlantic Express! at the KC Live! Block! Show is FREE to attend from 4-7 PM.

4U will present the music of Prince like never before, with a full symphony orchestra. In addition, each show will feature a live band including amazing musicians and vocalists who will perform alongside the orchestra. 4U will include Prince’s extensive musical catalog will be represented including his greatest hits as well as some of his lesser known gems in this musical celebration.

NEXT WEEK DOE

Kansas City two-stepping’s roots took hold in the mid-1950s as the flamboyant big band and swing eras of jazz that once dominated the nightclubs of New York, Chicago and KC began to wane in favor of the new, slower sound of R&B.

East of Troost Avenue in Kansas City, grocery stores are more likely to emphasize sugary, fatty foods near the entrance. Farther west, however, stores beckon with fresh produce and fish. Can that change?
