In the past we have done blues soul and funk nights when there is a 5th friday in the month.

Inevitably there is always requests for more "swing" on those nights. So we are switching things up a little. 
Blues with a side of lindy hop will be just that, a blues night with a good percentage of lindy hop thrown in on the side.

A Song For You is a love story, shot in black & white, about a soul singer and what inspires him to make music. The story follows the lead character from the years 1979 to 2009 as he watches the music industry change, and tries to find his place in it.

The film is written by filmmaker/music photographer Diallo Javonne French. Diallo is an award winning filmmaker with a B.E.T. (Black Entertainment Television) film to his credit. He’s photographed musicians like Janelle Monae, Duran Duran, Chic Corea, Bobby Watson, Anthony Hamilton, and Brandy.

Are you an artist who would like understand color on a deeper level? Does choosing from a million different hues seem like a daunting task? In this class we will look at both the highly subjective and highly scientific sides to choosing color. We will go over the basics of the standard color wheel, color harmony, color balance, and then we will delve into the psychology of color. This class is wonderful for the interior designer to the painter and everyone in between. 

Join us for discussion on Afro Agrarianism (Black Land stewardship/farming), food justice, and sovereignty via working on the land. Our family friendly workshop will be facilitated by 1SKC core organizer and Kansas City Aquaponics owner, Maurice Person. 

Street Medicine KC (SMKC) works to ensure access to quality health care and social services for Kansas City’s unreached, underinsured, uninsured, and service resistant homeless and at-risk populations. SMKC seeks to provide “street medicine”, a systematic outreach and approach to provide medical care directly to those living and sleeping on the streets through mobile services such as walking teams, medical vans, and outreach clinics. Street Medicine is the first essential step in achieving higher levels of care through assertive, coordinated, and collaborative medical management and social services. 

We (V)alue (I)nspire (B)elieve in and (E)levate KC is a movement dedicated to reviving the streets of Kansas City by uplifting, empowering, and supporting the communities we live in. Our desire is to serve our people in the KC urban core through various outreach programs including food pantries, toy drives, free or discounted tutoring, school supply drives for students, and community service projects. We are dedicated to providing resources and services to the urban community to generate a safe place for kids, youth, and adults seeking to better themselves in and for the community.
