Come hear a relevant artist of our time. Joyce J. Scott is a versatile Baltimore-based artist whose work serves as a commentary for issues regarding race, politics, sexism, and stereotypes. She is a printmaker, weaver, sculptor, performance artist, and educator, but she is probably most well known for her work in jewelry, beadwork, and glass. Scott will also be exhibiting at Open Spaces this fall. This free public lecture is underwritten by the Hoffman Visiting Artist Endowment.
This Pop Chef event will be a hands-on learning experience all about sushi, Japanese cuisine, and cooking techniques that help make sushi delicious and Japanese food so unique, but also, to improve guests' abilities in their own kitchens.

With spring comes Rosé season! 

River Market Event Place and Terra Firma will be hosting a Rosé Festival to celebrate the season. 

Entrance to the event is $10. There will be 20 plus Rosé wines from different regions to sample. All wines will also be available to purchase by the bottle or case at special prices. If you purchase 6 bottles or more, the $10 entrance fee will be applied to your sale. 
This will be a community discussion about our situation as a people and our future moving forward. What has helped us? What has been to our detriment? 

What does growth look like within our areas?

We're excited to re-open our nursery in midtown Kansas City, MO for the spring. Join us for opening weekend on April 14th and pick up native plants for your garden! We will be open Thursday-Sunday at 30th & Troost through the end of May. Our new entrance will be on the south side of 30th Street between Troost Avenue and Harrison Street, just west of Ruby Jean's Kitchen and Juicery. 
Learn how to taste and evaluate both white and red wines. We will discuss the basics of wine making, a bit of wine history and practice how to taste a range of wines. If you are just getting into wine or you want to brush up your knowledge, this class is for you.
Salsa versus Swing is a blast! Come out and learn the basics of two dance styles, and stick around to practice, drink, and social fun! $5 Cover! No partner needed, but tell your friends! 
This class will provide students with the opportunity to understand the symbolism and historical significance of an array of prominent African American musical and poetic expressions regarding the social, political, emotional, and psychological plights of African Americans. 
Join the new Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral revival as we learn how to use non-violent civil disobedience to advance our campaign’s demands to end, what Dr. King called, “the triple evils” of racism, economic exploitation, and militarism. We’ll train and learn how to effectively wield non-violence as a weapon for making the moral, economic, and political changes America so desperately needs.

Crimson Nights - An Evening of Entertainment & Trivia sponsored by the DEED Foundation and Delta Sigma Theta. The theme for the evening will be "A Black Out Evening" all things black.

This event will include a trivia competition with various categories, silent aunction, cash bar, and raffles. There will be a grand prize for the winners of trivia and best decorated table. The evening will include fun and entertainment with guest DJ Ben Rich! The event is for our 21 and older audience only.
This is an opportunity to experience art in a new kind of way. This event is free admission where you will be able to view unique and exquisite art. Art that has a story that is forever changing. These art pieces can range from $100 up to $3500. Come join us your piece awaiting. DJ Baby Boi will also be present providing the music.
